In an attempt to boost ticket sales at entertainment events (gross receipts for the industry have fallen by 7.6 per cent) Live Nation has partnered with Groupon to offer discount tickets for live events.
The service, expected to launch in June, works through Groupon’s existing structure, with people receiving email notifications when discounted concerts become available in their area. The aim is to attract ‘last minute’ event attendance and fill up otherwise empty seats.
Ticket industry analysts at Forrester Research, estimated that the market for selling live-event tickets online (in the US) will grow to $8.5 billion in 2015 from $6.2 billion this year.
