About The Marketing Map
The Marketing Map lays out marketing the way a transport map lays out a city: as lines you can travel along and stations where you can change.
Marketing is easy to describe one channel at a time and hard to see as a whole. Agencies and platforms each explain their own corner, and it is left to the business owner, the new marketing manager or the student to work out how the pieces connect. The map exists to show the whole network on one page — and then to give a clear, practical guide at every stop.
What you'll find here
- The map — seven lines covering the main marketing platforms, with the disciplines on each as stations.
- Platform guides — advertising, digital, direct, database, event and relationship marketing.
- Discipline guides — SEO, PPC, email, social media, PR, content and brand.
- Marketing news — dated stories, each linked to the part of the map it belongs to.
- Book store — recommended reading for every discipline.
How the guides are written
The guides are written for people doing marketing in the UK, so they mention the UK rules and bodies that matter — the ASA and CAP Code for advertising, PECR and UK GDPR for email and direct marketing, the ICO, the CMA. They aim to be practical and plain-spoken rather than exhaustive. Rules change, so for anything with legal consequences check the regulator's own guidance before acting.
How the site is funded
The site is free to use. Book recommendations link to Amazon, and we earn a small commission when someone buys through those links. That never changes what the guides say. There is no advertising on the site and no analytics tracking.
Who runs it
