Who we are
marketing-map.co.uk ("The Marketing Map", "we", "us") is operated by Centraserve Ltd, a company registered in England. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at any time through our contact form.
What we collect and why
Server logs
Like almost every website, our web server and our content delivery provider (Cloudflare) automatically record technical details of each request: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page and your browser's user-agent string. We use these logs only to keep the site running, secure and free of abuse. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted.
The contact form
If you send us a message, we receive your name, email address, any subject and the message itself, together with your IP address. We use them only to read and reply to your message. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests in responding to enquiries. Messages are kept for up to two years and then deleted, unless an ongoing matter means we need them longer. If spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA v3) is active on the form, Google processes information about your visit to tell people from bots; Google's own privacy policy applies to that processing.
We do not sell, rent or share your details with anyone for marketing, and we will not add you to any mailing list.
Cookies
We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies or any other tracking technology. The site sets no cookies of its own for ordinary visitors. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site from malicious traffic; under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) such cookies do not need consent. If reCAPTCHA is active on the contact form, Google may set cookies when you load that page.
Amazon affiliate links
The Marketing Map is a participant in the Amazon EU Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.co.uk. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
Book links ("Shop this on Amazon") take you to Amazon's website. When you follow one, Amazon may set cookies and collect information under its own privacy notice, so that it can credit the purchase to us. We do not receive any personal information about you from Amazon — only aggregated reports of the items bought. We do not sell anything on this site ourselves, take orders or handle payments.
Third-party services
Pages load fonts and style files from Google Fonts and jsDelivr, which receive your IP address in order to send those files to your browser. External links in our guides and news pages go to sites we do not control; their own privacy policies apply.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to our use of it, and to data portability where it applies. To make a request, use the contact form; we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Security and storage
The site is served over HTTPS. Contact messages are stored on our server in the United Kingdom/European Economic Area with access limited to the people who answer them.
Changes
We will update this page if the way we handle data changes, and show the date of the latest version at the top.
