Twitter has bought up Tweetdeck for more than $40 million, according to CNN that is. The purchase has been rumoured for a while and CNN is now reporting that the deal has been done.
The ever popular ‘sources close to the deal’ say Twitter is paying in a mix of cash and stock and the valuation is at the lower end of the price range quoted by tech sites over the last couple of months.
Tweetdeck is possibly the most popular desktop Twitter client and its purchase by Twitter is seen as a defensive move to stop it falling into the hands of UberMedia, who were reported to have agreed a price only to be gazumped by Twitter.
