Order online collect in-store popular with Boots customers

Supplier of medicine, beauty products, and office lunch ‘meal deals’ for countless numbers of people each day, Boots have published details of how their ‘click and collect’ service has performed.

The service allows customers to shop online from an extended range of products which can then be delivered to the customer’s home, or collected from their local Boots store (the service is available from almost all the company’s 2,500 outlets).

Boots’ figures show that 40% of online orders are collected in-store, demonstrating that many customers still prefer to visit bricks-and-morter stores even if they are ordering online. This is good news for retailers as it gives them an opportunity to offer additional point-of-sale promotions and cross-sell related products.

Boots also announced results for its Treat Street online shopping service, which enables Advantage Card customers to collect points when they shop online with around 60 well-known retail brand. Advantage is already one of the largest loyalty card schemes in the UK and in the last year the number of people using their card at least once reached 16.8 million.
